Urgent help please - Wandsworth sold our car and now our ven got towed away!

Last year, my husband was suffering depression and he received about 8 parking tickets (£60 fine per ticket) on his car from Wandsworth, but he was unable to deal with them due to huge difficulty mentally and financially.

Wandsworth took his car worth £4K and sold it. We thought it is the end of the matter.

However, they came back today and towed his ven which he uses everyday to make a living, (he is a plumber). The ven plus the tools worth around £10K, Wandsworth is demanding a £3K charge to get his ven back or it will be sold in 5 days.

What can we do on this case? We feel it is somehow unfair and unjustified, my husband needs the ven to make money and it is just impossible for him to do his job.

If you can help us in any way that will be much appreciated, thank you very much.

You need to post on pepipoo straight away.

They will need all the facts and copies of all paperwork received, with personal details blanked out.

Bear in though it's the middle of the night, so you might not get an answer until morning, but they are your best bet for help.

Read their sticky threads before posting.

I take it this is Wandsworth Council? They must have taken him to court and got a CCJ to seize goods. It might be worth checking his Credit File to see if he has any CCJ's on record and how much for.

I am in no way an expert on this, so you might want to wait until someone more knowledgeable comes along, but definitely post on pepipoo as per my last post.

siezure of a work vehicle is normally not permitted, although Wandsworth or their bailiff won't fess up to being wrong, and it may also be worth posting on CAG

But pepipoo is the first and best bet imho

You could also go to bailiffadviceonline.co.uk and ask there. There may be a charge but the advice, from past threads, is worth it.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.
