Hi,
Just wondering if anyone has seen any offers/vouchers for Edinburgh Zoo as we are visiting the city 18-21 February (2A/1C) and our daughter is mad on animals.
Many thanks.

As an update to this, I have found a couple of "offers":
(1) Up to June, Tesco Clubcard Deals can be used for admiossion at a cost of £5.50 in Tesco Clubcard Tokens per admission
(2) Alternative offer valid from Friday 7 January 2011 until Friday 8 April 2011 is here - you have to pre-book and nominate your day of visit when booking, but costs are £10/£5C (saving £5.50A and £6C).
Hope this helps someone.0 -
Thanks very much - planning a visit here tomorrow so have got the cheaper pre-booked tickets. Will let you know what it's like - not holding much hope given tripadvisor reviews (although they seem extremely mixed) so will report back once the kids have given their verdict (which is usually bang on!)0

Would appreciate the feedback. However, given our daughters obsession with animals, I'm sure she will enjoy it whatever happens!!
Incidentally, can't claim the credit for the link to the offer - that also came from a TA posting.0 -
Just got back from what was actually a lovely day out. There are some horrendous reviews on Trip Advisor but I don't see the viewpoint of most of them - our two girls (10 and 6) loved it and want to go back again, which is a good sign!
There is no reptile house and a lot of the enclosures were empty, but putting the latter down to the time of year. The Chimpanzee part (newly built) is brilliant and the animals seemed - to me - to be in reasonable condition.
It would be pricey if you just paid on the day but £20 for three of us (using that link you posted) I think is perfectly reasonable, especially given the fact we were there for about four hours.
Enjoy it if you decide to go!0 -
Thanks for that. We have decided to cash in some Tesco vouchers for our February visit as we are unsure at the moment the exact day we will visit the zoo.0

Edinburgh zoo wasn't very good a couple of years ago, they were still building the monkey inclosure and alot of the park was closed off, i remember being really dissapointed and we only spent a little over a hour in the park, plus i don't think the weather was the greatest.
However, we went last year, about april time i think and really enjoyed it! it felt so much better and the monkey inclosure was opened and spent alot longer in the park.
I read reviews about the zoo ages and ages ago and remember reading peoples comments on some of the inclosures being more old fashioned and making the animals more on 'display' which i agree with with some of the them, i found that to be true with some of the 'big cats' so there is still some work to be done, but they are getting there.0 -
I love Edinburgh Zoo. For an inner-city zoo that has limited space, the constant improvements they are making and the animals that they (and the highland wildlife park) have make it lovely day out. A lot of enclosures were empty when I last went as they were being done out and the zoo was awaiting arrival of new animals, and some of the animals were shy and hidden away but I would recommend the zoo to anyone visiting. The Zoo is a charitable organisation and does rely a lot on donation and memberships, adoptions etc but as I say for the limited space they have their I am impressed.0
