Travelodge Kew Bridge

Hi,

Looking at a cheap(ish!!) weekend in or around London, and the Travelodge at Kew Bridge is available at £26/night. Looks convenient enough to get the tube into central London, so not too worried about that.

However, can anyone advise what is in the immediate area with regard to restaurants/pubs/cinemas etc. Any advice appreciated.

Many thanks.

Pubs: Your side of Kew Bridge. If you walk to Kew Bridge cross the street, and take the road which runs next to Bridge. There are 4 or 5 nice old pubs along that street, next to the river. If you cross over the bridge right at the end, there are two side streets, one from each side. Both sides have decent pubs. (Did that make sense?) In addition, next to the right end, is Ask Pizza. Excellent pizzas and pasta. I personally think the house wine is excellent. Deserts are yummy. Table clothes, flowers and candle on table. Go before 7pm on weekends to be sure to get table. Can be noisy on weekend afternoons. Lot of children's birthdays etc.
Watermans Arts Centre is across from you. Used to have plays there> Worth checking.
If you are driving, then there are more options. Hope this helps. Good Luck.

yup - that just about covers it - unless you venture in to Brentford or Chiswick, but wouldn't have said either were particularly walkable
:dance:There's a real buzz about the neighbourhood

Nearest tube station is Gunnersbury on the District line which is a short bus ride away.

The actual Kew Bridge station is on the Hounslow to Waterloo line.

I saw on watchdog that Travelodge has an overbooking policy so best get there reasonably early !

you can catch a number of buses from outside the hotel that go to Chiswick, every 5 mins or so. As stated also the overline goes from Kew Bridge to Waterloo, via Clapham Junction and vauxhall. From Vaux you can change and get the tube aswell..

Chiswick high rd is about 2 miles long with about 50 Restaurants and a number of pubs to choose from...It's not your city centre type of place with kids beeing sick everywhere but a bit quieter and more middle class.

Or if your after Puke city, stay on the bus to Hammersmith and enjoy the School Disco on a saturday night...

    P..
  • as another poster has said ...get there early and check what alternative hotels are available in case you get bumped

My brother lives in Chiswick. If you go into Chiswick go to the Bulls head beside the river. Great gastro pub. Sometimes need to fight through the celebs to get to the bar though! (ant& decs local plus I've seen matt dawson and the guy that played Paul in eastenders in there!)

It`s a short bus ride from Kew Bridge to Richmond - plenty of good pubs/restaurants there. If you are planning ahead, why not try the Covent Garden lodge?. A 5 min walk to Oxford St and no problems in getting home after a night out.
The KX and Farrindon lodges are pretty good and the Marylebone one is fairly central, but I haven`t tried that one.
    Enjoy your break.
