Hi got back today from fabulous New York!
My bf proposed on our 2nd day on a helicopter above the statue of liberty, i was crying and all blury eyed most of the ride!!!
Just wanted to ask for help please.
We are looking for my ring...wow still feels strange saying that! So i just wanted to ask if anyone can recommend a good place. I want something special and value for money.
Although i am excited i also feel a bit kind of scared? Is that normal? I am excited too. Its a big change!
All advice appreciated

Sorry I'm not a great jewellery expert but I just wanted to say a big Congratulations!!! My boyfriend had my ring made for me so I'm not sure of shops etc.
Its a wonderful experience and yes its a shock as well (my engagement was a big surprise) - I was so shocked I didn't tell anyone for 48 hours - just wanted to digest it all by myself and take it in. Once it had hit me I couldn't stop smiling!!!!!0 -
ahhhh thats excellent, Im glad that someone else felt the shock too! Asthat is how i felt and probably still am a little but getting excited too!
not sure wether to have it made or buy one?0 -
ive heard that the jewellery quarter in birmingham is a very good starting point for this sort of thingknow thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0

I bought a really old ring second hand ..it is about 100 years old and 22ct. I wanted it to have a history ...and thought that a ring that old would have had a long happy marriage (and even if it did not..it will now!!)I have had brain surgery - sorry if I am a little confused sometimes0

thats lovely but i do want a new one i think.0

We got our rings here. The jeweller adapted one of his standard range for us (not that there's anything very standard about anything he makes
) so I have a totally unique ring. And it cost peanuts. And it's white gold which is so heavy that it obviously has a very high percentage of platinum in it (in fact, we wonder whether he sold us platinum rings by mistake!)
Very very happy with them. And whilst all his stuff is modern, he does a lot of things which are not as unconventional as the illustrations on the website. Definitely worth contacting!
(Just a happy customer, btw)Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -
Congratulations!
If it was me I wud have got mine in New York! A fantastic ring for about half the price you wud get it for here!
Try finding a wholesale jeweller - there are bound to be some in your area. My friends ex paid £1000 for hers locally and she found out in London it would hve cost about £350 wholesale! If you fancy a trip to London try looking up Alan Bick, apparently he does excellent wholesale deals!"Life may not always be the party you wish for, but whilst here you may aswell dance"!!!
Murphy's NMPC Memb No 239! Dippychick's De-clutter club Member No 6! - onto room no 2!

That's what I would recommend as well. We went back to Birmingham for my eternity ring, there was more choice on one street than I had seen everywhere else put together, and at about 1/2 the prices I had seen elsewhere. When I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.0 -
Thats great but not really an option as i live in Manchester.
We did think about getting it in NY but i would rather get it from here as then if i had any problems i could take it back.
I definately want platinum, i will check into the wholesale option sounds good.
Thanks.0
