Hi,
First time post on here but have read through a lot of the forums. Having received an insurance payout, my wife and I now have around 50k in savings. Currently split like this -
25k - NS&I bond at RPI + 1%
25k - instant access savings with halifax at 2.5%
I'm thinking of putting some of the money from the instant access account into investments. We currently live in Australia so cannot use our ISA allowance until we return to the UK in Feb.
As a lot of the savings will be in 'safe' areas of NS&I/savings account, I'm prepared to take some risk with the rest of the investments to increase returns.
My current choices are -
Fundsmith - invest directly, an eye on more long term/stable returns
Aberdeen Emerging Markets - good potential, low exposure to China
Invesco UK Smaller Companies
What do people think of these? Was going to go through Hargreaves-Lansdowne and then transfer into ISA once back.
Thanks
