Erm, well the extreme is the most basic version, but I understand they're not actually very basic at all. The extreme clio has cruise control!

What I am looking for is a 1litre or 1.2 litre car three door.

Think I might just forget the 1.4 Megane.

Would be happy to hear anyones thoughts.

Renault like most modern cars are all designed with pedestrian safety/crumple zones in mind.

Bulbs are a pig to change when you've never done it before but after a few times it's second nature.

My RenaultSport clio 197 (2.0 litre) had no room under the bonet as you can imagine. Under the wheel arches it had rubber caps that removed allowing you to get at the bulbs, i understand most Renault cars are like that now.

Meganes have flaps in the wheel arches to get yer hand thru to change the bulbs...

Lol 'designed with safety in mind', designed by awkward frenchmen to line the dealers pockets more like! Its a 30 second job on normal cars!

On that basis alone I'd say don't buy the megane! I don't imagine that's the only pointlessly complicated job.

True, but the golf they compared it to did and that took all of 53 seconds to change. I would far rather have a deathtrap that's cheap and simple to fix than something with crumple zones all over meaning the slightest knock will write it off tbh...
