Hi..
Was looking for a bit of advice please if possible
In a few weeks time, my partner and I are going to London for the Thursday & Friday. We're catching the train into Euston and will then be travelling reasonably often in Zones 1 and 2 on both the Thursday & Friday.
What's the best ticket for us to buy, and where would we be best advised to purchase ?
Many Thanks

Get a oyster travelcard.
zones don't really exist as such now.
Least then you can use the DLR/Bus if need beIf Adam and Eve were created first

Here's some more information on oyster cards - http://www.londontoolkit.com/briefing/oystercard.htm
They are the cheapest method of travel in london. You'll be able to buy one in Euston station (£3, which is refundable when you leave and give it back)0 -
Thanks for the replies so far
Forgive my ignorance, but i've not used Oyster before.
So, I can purchase 2 x oyster cards online & receive these well in advance of my journey to London. Do I need to load credit onto them before I travel ? And, if so, how much do you think I should load - we're actually only in London for about 30 hours. And what happens to credit if it isn't used ??
Thanks for shedding some light on my naive questions !0 -
You can buy the Oyster cards when you arrive at Euston - I'd suggest £12 on each. You get back any excess credit (and a £5 deposit) when you hand the card in at the end of your trip.
But TBH I wouldn't bother with Oyster if this is a one off trip. An off peak one day travel card each for each day will work out at exactly the same net price and you won't have the bother of paying and reclaiming the deposit and excess funds. Added to which if you buy them at a rail station (eg Euston mainline) rather than a tube station you are eligible for 2 for 1 admission to many attractions. Oyster doesn't have this offer
You'll want one for zones 1/2 - zones still very much exist for tube travel - it's only buses where London is now one large zone,0 -

It depends. You may want to look at getting a travel card if it is just for the day. That will get you into London and will get you around the zones you are after - the last time we went to London it covered zones 1-6. It got us from the station in Kent where we live to London and back and you can use it on the buses and the tube
. It worked out much cheaper than getting a ticket to London and then getting a 1-2 zone card so it could be cheaper for you.
It may be cheaper doing the travel card for the day there and the day back - make sure you get the travel card for the next day on the outward journey and not the return as you can't get the travel card from London in my experience!I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy0 -
You cannot get a 1 or 2 day Travelcard on Oyster.
Yes you can it's called PAYG or pay as you go. Works out exactly the sameYes they do.
They may still exist on the tubes but the busses have been completely nulled. It's one fare wherever you go
I work for london busses so don't really get involved in the LU sideIf Adam and Eve were created first
