last wednesday i went into the congestion area. forgot to pay. my defence the worst journey ever, left home for appointment at 11, allowing an extra hour got there at 14.45, left town at around 16.00 got home at 21.30 normally a 2 1/2 journey. got in shattered. forgot to pay next day.
I rang TFL, explained that i am a registered user and when checking records could see the vehicle registered had entered app 6 times over last 2 years and always paid online. they checked my vehicle reg and as of yesterday afternoon (mon ) no offence was showing on the computer. but NO sorry i still couldnt pay, i must wait for the fixed penalty, then write and plead / explain
is it worth doing, why is the system set up like this? as from jan 4th you can register a vehicle and card and they will auto charge, the rub it's £10 per vehicle. ok the charge drops to £9 a £1 discount but on 4 or 5 trips a year all it saves is the hassle of a fine. i think i will register just to save the above. what a rip off

Just pay up and learn from the mistake. (It's not worth wasting any more time/stress etc over this when you know it's all down to your fault is it??)0

I had lots of dealings with TFL over congestion charges (fleet) and there is no way they let you get away without paying.
As advised, pay it and learn from mistakes. You really have no chance of getting out of it.0
