i have been put in to the support group do i need to still send sick /fit note in it dont tell me on the letter

That is correct. But when you are re-tested and if then you don't make the grade and pass, you will have to start sending sick notes in again.
I went from the assessment rate to the work group rate and back to the assessment rate. For all of that time I kept sending sicknotes in as it was easier to carry of getting them off the GP than to start - stop - start.0
