Boots Advantage Points

I was in a store today, and they were offering triple points if you spend over £15. I had £14...so knew it was worth spending the extra £1.....

but then I saw 15-20 signs saying "triple points over £10, offer ends monday".

So I checked with a member of staff, she told me it was indeed over £10. Got to the till... and the lad on the till said it was over £15. Spoke to the manager in the end seeing as no one knew what was going on...she insisted it was £15, i pointed out the £10 signs...and she went "Ill kill them they must have put the wrong signs out, you CANT have the triple points on £10 as the tills won't allow it".

Is this what is supposed to happen...surely if its advertised at the lower price, they should give it to you at the lower price? :rotfl:

(apologies if this is on the wrong board, im still learning!! )

They can add extra points after the sale. All they had to do was work out how many extra points you should have had if the signs had been right then added them on manually.

I hope they got the signs down there and then, stupid that even the manager hadn't noticed the wrong signs were up!

If something is advertised incorrectly you do not automatically have a right to get it at that price.

However, you can complain if you have notified them of the error and they do not recify it as soon as possible - you can complain to Trading Standards about mis-description, but human error does not permit you to get the points/price automatically.

That said, most good stores (Like Boots) would normally pass on the saving/points as a goodwill geasture, or like Tesco's, include it in their policy.

Yes... unfortunately it is an old urban myth that they have to sell it at the advertised price. Even if they continue to display the wrong price/ promotion after being made aware of the error they dont have to honour it but that is when they get into trouble with trading standards et co

  • I must admit I did push it when I wanted to buy two pairs of sunglasses recently. There were signs over every case stating 1/2 sunglasses, making the two pairs I was holding £12.50 each. When I got to the till, it said £50 for the lot. I argued and eventually a manager had to come over, and go to the display to triple check. Even then they didn't know what to do. I eventually got both pairs for the £25 I expected. It's silly how disorganised they sometimes are.
