Why on earth is the tax system in such a dire state that money is being wasted on paper and postage.

In the space of 2 weeks ive received a letter in response to a form I filled in to confirm my details eg name etc and my salary and money I earnt between 2 dates and today I have had 2 letters informing me that between 2 months of last year i wasnt entitled to any working tax credits and another letter informing me for current tax year im entitled to some money.

Why not put all 3 letters in the same envelope or better still cut down on the information in each envelope and keep it to 2 or 3 pages 1 envelope
