need help dresses i hate them

Ok I know I have left it late but..............
tomorrow night have a xmas party to go to and nothing to wear ! i need a black dress now lol
Ordered one from tesco 8 to small around bust size 10 fell off ! ordered another one but it has not arrived so I intend to go shopping in the morning!
I do not own one dress have not for years 9 id not go to posh doo's often ) I tend to wear skinny and nice tops when I go out
So what should I avoid, so not to look like mutton, dont want to look old fashioned though
i have plenty of heals and bags, got the necklace
Please help

Hmmm... if you can get one, how about a wrap dress? They're flattering on pretty much all figures, and with the wrap you can tighten or loosen as necessary.
Knee length is good as well with a pair of heels, avoid anything too short and sometimes long things can look a bit old fashioned.DFW by end of June 2016...! LBM June 2011

If you're never going to wear the dress again, why not get a party-style top instead? Black trousers/jeans/legging, snazzy top, heels, necklace, bag ...
It will all look great, and you won't waste money on something you only wear once.
