Scammer caught out!

I have just caught out a big scammer, it seems to me he has been doing
this for a long time, and is running a big-time operation, he knows what
hes doing and it seems like hes conned alot of people and still is!

Basically, i was searching https://www.Alibaba.com for wholesalers, distributers
etc, and found some Samsung D500 phone whole salers, all claiming to sell
phones cheap, very cheap, which caught my attention...

So here we go, i enquired at all of them, and most emailed back, all
claiming to sell the phones cheap. Well here in the UK, the phones go for
around £300+, and some were selling for £60 - £150,but you had to buy in
bulks, and the least would be 5units, so i thought to myself, how could
i go wrong?

Most of these that replied, were eager to do business, and seemed kind of
desperate to do the deal. All of them seemed to struggle with english, as half of the sentences did not make sense, and as they were mainly from 'romania', 'italy', 'germany', and other European countries..

By now i was asking about the transactions in more detail, all of them
wanted to do business using Western Union, or Square trade.

I knew they were all dodgy, i concentrated on one particular person,
claiming to sell samsung d500's for 120$ which is roughly £60. These
phones are retailed at £300 here as you may know, so something was surely dodgy...

I went along with this, he e-mailed saying:

Dear sir,

You will have to pay the taxes only for sending the money to Square Trade.
The packaage will arrive in 2-3 days after i have the confirmation of
paymeny from Square Trade.
Please send us your full name and address, so we can start the shipping.

Regards!

So i decided to go along with it, obviously i wasn't going to really pay.
I emailed back giving him an address that didnt exist.

It wasn't long before i got another email from him, heres what he said

Right now i am starting the transaction at Square Trade.

Regards!

So i waited.. and then i receieved an email from 'Square trade', and a second later an email from the scammer.. hmmm..

Dear sir,

I have started the transaction. You need only to follow their instructions.
After i receive the confirmation of payment from Square Trade, i will
start the shipping with UPS.
Hope you are satisfied with this.

Regards!

So then i checked the e-mail supposedly being from Square Trade, heres what it looked like:

Link Edited - MSE Controller 2

As you can see, i gave him a made up Address, and it has his own address too? not too sure, as this could have been a fake one.

Basically, i figured out that was not really from Square Trade as i checked the header of the email first;

Received: from IP edited - MSE Controller 2

By looking at this, it didn't make sense, why would 'Square Trade' be using a Yahoo server to send e-mails, something fishy...

So then i looked at the e-mail address supposedly to have been of Square Trades, and it was email edited - MSE contoller 2This email address looked dodgy, as if it was from Square Trade it would be email edited - MSE contoller 2 ? so i typed it into my browser:email edited - MSE contoller 2and it redirected to a Yahoo Geocities page, this is how i knew that the e-mail that was meant to be from Square Trade (ST) was really from him, which he had created, and sent using his own domain email edited - MSE contoller 2 to make buyers think it is all legit and that they have receieved an e-mail from the company, when infact it's just him sending a fake email.

Now to go into more detail, we can scroll down the email till we reach:

How to make payment?
1. Locate the nearest MoneyGram Office
2. Make the payment with cash using the above agent details
3. E-mail us the following details from the payment receipt:
- Reference Number - 8 digits number from the payment receipt
- Sender Name and Address
- Receiver Name
- Amount

He wants you to e-mail him with the following information, why? So he can go to the moneygram/western union office the following day and take the money out!, all that info is needed to retrieve the money, then no matter how many emails you send him, you'll never hear from him again!

I am sure alot of people have been conned by Swear edited - MSE Controller 2 and he needs to be stopped! I guess the saying is true, if something is too good to be true, it most likely is.. so watch out!

BTW, he was using gmail to email me, and as he is impersonating Square Trade i should contact them too, but anyone know who else i should contact about this fraud/scam? or any ways of messing Swear edited - MSE Controller 2 about? :D

People be warned!

P.S I will update this with all the email adds these scammers use.

  • Hi Mate

Know exactly what you mean with people like this, my best mate got stung by this about 4 months. He went through with the deal and lost £700 +.

He was gutted obviously because he thought he was getting an amazing deal that would have made him £2000 +

All i can say to anyone who is thinking about doing these deals, DONT. They arent worth it as you will just end up disappointed and with empty pockets.

    Best Regards

    Jimmy
