Credit Card Payment

hi,
I have just made a credit card payment of £75 to a website for a pair of GHD's that at the time i thought was all legit, i am now having serious doubts on a) if they will ever arrive, and b) if they do arrive if they will be genuine. The genuine GHD website says that they are not an authorised retailer.

My question is, am i stuffed as this is under £100?
Would my credit card company be able to do anything for me? Does anyone have any advice?
I could really do without the thought of just chucking £75 down the drain.

Thanks

  • Chargeback for goods not received would probably be your best bet, but you would have to wait the quoted days on the website for delivery to surpass before you could do it.

Unfortunately, since it's under £100, it isn't protected by your credit card.

It's always best to buy products like this from a reputable seller. They may probably arrive but they won't be genuine I'm afraid. Many people have been caught out by fake GHD scams.

I realise that, and its what I'm most annoyed about as I'm normally so careful.
Is there really nothing I can do? Is it even worth calling the credit card company in the morning? Can they stop the payment if its within a certain amount of time or anything?
Should I just write it off?

If there's fraud involved (eg fake goods) then perhaps the CC will investigate/refund. Despite being out of the scope of s75, they are not totally off the hook if they are facilitating this kind of trade.

Else you have got distance selling rights (as well as other rights).... you can reject the goods and demand a refund from the merchant. If they don't then trading standards/sue them. Depends how slippery they are.

It could happen to the best of us. They won't stop the payment once it has been authorised regardless of what you tell them.

Is the GHD's coming from another country? I ask because someone on the forum just recently ordered a pair of fake ones and they were seized by customs.

If they come, then you can try arranging the return of them and demand a refund from the seller. It's tricky though, most sellers of fake GHD's are overseas which makes it harder to recover any money.
