Hi all,
I've been visiting the site for almost a year now and have read plenty of good advice, so decided it was time to register and become one of the money saving massive.
As the title indicates I am looking for a free whole of the market broker in the nottingham area, who can help me and people are happy to reccomend.
Any help is gratefully recieved.
The Lep.

Just completed on my house in Sneinton - we used a firm called mortgages4u based in Clay Cross - a little out of Nottingham, but not far from the M1. Their website is https://www.mortgages4u-ltd.co.uk and the guy you want to speak to is Mark White - he is so helpful!
We had major difficulties - I'm a contractor, minimal deposit and my partner has a fairly ropey credit history and we were sorted out with something very quickly and easily.
From my own personal experience (and nothing else), I would steer clear of the mortgage brokers that are part of the haarts estate agency - we had nothing but problems with them - lost applications, being lied to on a daily basis about lost application and actually trying to get me to commit fraud to get a mortgage (telling the bank I was a full-time employee rather than a contractor).
Hope it helps0 -
Thanks Stringyflea, do you have any advice on a good solicitor as well.A little bit of love goes a long way.0

We used a firm in Arnold called Martin Smalley - again, very good and they didn't charge us when the first house we instructed them on fell through.
And in case you need it, would recommend John Brailsford for your survey - they have a sliding scale of charges so you can ask for a Homebuyers report and if they see anything that warrants further investigation, they will do it and charge a little more (20/30 quid or so for each thing). Works out cheaper than having a full structural survey done and gives a bit of piece of mind that any problems will be properly looked at.
Good luck!0 -
A couple of years ago we got some advice from a broker at David James estate agents on Mapperley top, I beleive they are whole of market, and were very helpful and very plesant.
As for a solicitor I would recommend Greg Tring at Sharpe and Partners on Weekday Cross in Nottingham. We used him a few years ago and since then I have recommeded him to many friends and colleagues who were all very happy.0 -
Totally non compliant aswell.
They claim independence but seem to not offer a fee based service. Risk warnings not large enough. They mention adverse credit and credit impaired mortgages but there are no APRs which HAVE to be quoted on a website. Also debt consolidation, no risk warnings.
The FSA would have a field day with that site !0 -
Always agood idea to put any name / address / postcode thro' the FSA register
http://www.fsa.gov.uk/register
Financial advisers posting here should also be careful, as the FSA do look at posts, and websites to ensure they meet promotion rules0 -

Which is why we carry the disclaimer in our signatures and do not promote ourselves for business via this site.0 -

!
I have had totally the opposite experience. They have been useless from start to finish; unhelpful, rude, slow, do not return calls and clearly get off on talking down to people. Once they have your money they are not interested. Avoid!0
