Was just wondering about the sure start grant..

If we would be entitled? We have 2 children already who are 4 and 2. I have never claimed this before as I was always working. I gave up my job in February to become a stay at home mum (it was costing us more for me to work and have 2 cars than it was for me to stay home which is daft!). I never thought we would be entitled to it as hubby is on a pretty decent wage.

Looking at "mummy" forums I've read that you can claim if you receive more than the family element. We get £34.27 a week in child tax credits and I'm due at the very beginning of March 2011 (before the April cut off for first child only) so does that mean we can apply?

last year before tax it was £27k probably the same this year if not slightly less.
