Deals on glasses?

I need my eyes tested again, I think. My eye tests are free - so the offer of free eye tests doesn't matter.

What's the best deal on glasses now? I think Specsavers are doing a few deals. is anywhere else doing any deals?

I'm not too sure about ordering online, tbh. Isn't there some sort of measurement (they do this whilst fitting lasses) that I would need too?

Yeah its called your pupil distance.

I read into this before I ordered mine, its not really a big deal. I think the websites make it out to be because people with really bad eye sight need a more accurate measurement (don't ask me why, I didnt understand that part).

Just measure the the distance between your pupils and thats your pupil distance, thats the only measurement you need.

If your prescription is below 3.00 then this can be out by several millimeters and it wont be an issue.

Sh is registered partially sighted, it's probably not a good idea for her to be ordering online!

Sh, what do you have locally? Tesco do a pair of specs for a tenner but the range is limited and it only includes a hard coat.
If you're near asda their spex are £70 including thinned down lenses but asda opticians aren't widespread yet.
Boots are doing BOGOF on their designer frames but not sure what their lenses are coming in at just now, they are usually quite reasonable and their fitting services are good (pity same can't be said for their audiology service but that's a different story).
I'd avoid optical express for high + prescriptions, they seem to charge double the going rate for aspheric lenses just now (their spherical lenses are middle market priced so if you're a high - then go for it).

If you need prisms that can usually bump the prices up a lot. I'd check out your local independant, some do discounts for people on the blind/partially sighted register.
