Well, I'm cooking again for my girlfriend tonight. Last time she came round I made her spaghetti bolenese, and it went down well! This time I want to up things a notch. I've got some wine, candle, I think she was disappointed at the lack of desert effort last time, so getting in some ice cream and muffins for tonight. One slight problem though - what the hell am I going to cook for her?
I know she likes italian, spag bol was a safe choice, but I want to go that little bit extra this time, all she said to me is no tuna or lamb, so that leaves a lot of choices, i don't think shes big on spicy stuff. She normally eats things like pizza, chips, burgers, sweets... I think her diet is pretty lame to be honest and do riddle her about having the eating habits of a 9 year old, so I'm just looking for some ideas on something I could do tonight. Preferably chicken, turkey or beef, and frying pan over oven, however I am open to all suggestions.
Thanks!

Steak - easy.
Cover pan in salt, no oil. High heat, whack the steak onto it if for a few seconds, turn over. Turn down heat. Put knob of butter on each steak steak, sprinkle with a little tabasco. Cook to your preffered "doneness"
Just before serving, pour in a little brandy and flambe.
Taste good and doesn't half look impressive holding a flaming frying pan in your hand.
Serve with some home made chips and a salad. We all evolve - get on with it0 -
Awesome idea! Never thought of anything like that.0

Well she will be well impressed, and it is incredibly easy to do.
Just don't have too much wine before you add the brandy and dont add too much brandy either.
Did once - now that was impressive - but bloody scary. We all evolve - get on with it0 -
Really easy starter you can prepare well before if she likes italian.
Cut two red peppers in half length ways (i.e. cut through stalk and down).
Put coursely chopped tomatoes in, bit of garlic, drizzel of olive oil and sprinkle with basil. Place in oven for 30 minutes until pepper is soft and cooked...serve with chunky bread to dip in juices - delicious.
As I said you can prepare this in the morning and leave in fridge until it goes into oven...very easy.
Good luck0 -
How about a nice roast? Nothing easier, as it all sits in the oven cooking itself without you slaving over a hot stove, it can be prepared in advance, is healthy (ish) and tastes great.
Leftovers can be used to feed you for days afterwards!0 -
