She's 87,lives in her own house which is crammed to the top with 'junk' presents we have bought her over the years that she never uses
She's going a bit mutton and she can't spend too long watching tv or reading cos her eyes get tired....and she can't eat chocolate because of her diet
All suggestions welcome

How about a voucher for a day out together (or a meal out)...somewhere special?
Least you know it will be used and not sit in a cupboard somewhere.:)Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. Not very exciting but how about a subscription to a magazine that she might consider a "luxury". Or a newspaper? This way they get something they want and they keep getting it through the year so they get reminded of you.Enough money to live on so retired early...planning to see where life takes me:D0

It was my mom's birthday and she'd just had a new knee. She couldn't go out anywhere, I couldn't get to visit as I'd just had a major op, a hysterectomy.
So I did her an online shop from Tescos. She phoned me up nearly in tears.
She said she'd heard a knock at the door and saw a truck outside and wondered what was going on.
And there was this Tesco man with 7 carrier bags of shopping!
You don't have to spend loads to give a nice treat - I just got her general shopping, mince, fishcakes, teabags etc.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

I have Grandmothers aged 85 and 86. A few years ago I bought one a heated throw

Last year, I paid for panto tickets, to take her and my DD. This year she has having a book of family photos, can't really describe what it is as Mr S is in charge and I haven't seen them. I know it's a service offerred by Aldi.
My grandmother who can get more out and about is having a jewellery box (for all the bling she buys). I also considered paying for them both to have afternoon tea at a hotel/tea-room.0 -
What about something from the Whittard of Chelsea shop / website, also as spendless has already mentioned about heated blankets, my 78 year old mother loves her dreamland electric underblanket this she would definitely not be without0

Personally would get her a photobook. Im assuming there must be loads of photos of her and her family knocking around. Would get them all put in a really nice book for her so she can spend all her time looking at them. I can recommend bob books for it. I got my sister one for her 40th and she still cries now every time she looks at it. My mum just got one done for my grandma and grandad on their 60th wedding anniversay and they were blubbing too. Here is the linky http://www.bobbooks.co.uk/0

Perhaps she'd like something in the food line that she'd never buy because she thinks it's too expensive? Posh bottles fruit, jams, cheese, sherry etc?" The greatest wealth is to live content with little."

We always get my Mum (92) Boots vouchers so she can get the skin creams she likes but would never consider buying herself as they are expensive. We don't buy them for her as she likes to choose herself. She generally has enough in gift vouchers to get a big enough pot to last till next Christmas.
If I'm over the hill, where was the top?0 -
i always buy my grandma who is 85 a nice hot choclate set, jigsaw puzzles to keep her mind active and nice smellies and face creams. shes very frugal and wouldnt dream of buying nice face cream so its a good treat xx:j First prizes back into comping after a break - romantic break to 2 to Venice/ Paris or Rome with romantic trip and a 42 inch TV and blu Ray amazing !
Thank you all so much and good luck guys and girls xxxxxx0 -
I think one of the best pressies is to give our Mums (& Dads) more of our time and help to do stuff.
Some great ideas above. But they really do appreciate company as the number of visiors they get diminishes over their later years.“When the customer comes first, the customer will last”0
