I ordered the Fx euro last night and pre-loaded some money onto it.
1) When drawing this money out abroad, will I be charged 1.5% ?
2) can i use this pre-paid card for purchases? Is there also 1.5% charge.?
3) Can I apply for the metro current online? or is it phone only?
3) If I put some money into this account once its opened what exchange rate will I get when i withdraw it abroad.
4) Does this card also have the 1.5% charge?
thanks for any answers

You ordered a card and loaded it, without knowing the terms & conditions?
You must have had a reason for ordering the card in the first place?0 -

3 no and no - you have to apply in person at a branch. You get the Mastercard rate, unchanged
4 No - no charge0 -
evosy - you are comparing apples with oranges.
With the FairFX Euro card, you load the card with EUR- you know the exchange rate at the time you load the card...so you know how many euros you have.
With MetroBank, you deposit GBP and the account stays in GBP ...when you use the debit card to buy something in EUR, the exchange rate is determined at that time for the value of that purchase - when you spend the money...not when you deposit into the account...but the rest of the money in the account is still in GBP.
Sometimes it's nice to buy in the currency of your choice in advance to know what rate you will get...sometimes that goes against you, if the rate shifts dramatically...sometimes it works for you, if the rate shifts dramatically the other way.
We regularly do both - some on a pre-paid card, we buy when the rate seems good...some in a current account with no fees.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
thanks for responses.
Ive just read martins article.
Its says theres a 1.50 euro charge for withdraws on the fairfx euro card.
1) Is that regardless of the amount you withdraw?
2) Is that charge also on purchases,.?

1. Yes - but if you have to make more than one ATM transaction then it will be charged on each transaction
2 No
But didn't you read the FairFx site when you ordered the card??0 -
:o:o:o:o er kind of? not very well though. done now anyway.
So I think my best bet would be to use the fair fx euro for purchases and meals or instead ill just have to draw the lot out.
thanks0
