The best places we found were actually along the Royal Mile. Wanaburger is a must - great burgers and milkshakes. Most of the pubs on the mile serve good food, drink and surroundings of a good standard. There is an upmarket restaurant (reform?) towards the southern end of the mile on the left which serves excellent food, reasonably priced courses (around £6) for lunchtime. Nice Pizzaexpress there too. The seafood bar in Edinburgh airport is worth a visit on the way back too! Have a good trip! ...Actually, Plasir Du Chocolat (near the upmarket restaurant at the southern end of the mile) is really worth a visit. for a unique experience.. I had the 70% chocolate which was a bit too rich for me but the gf either had 50/60%, can't remember, very nice though!
