I disagree. That's teaching your son its ok to lie.

I agree, it's not the best example to be setting your offspring, however, everyone deserves a second chance, the boy is still only 16 and sounds like he may have genuine difficulty with organising things.

If his Mum helps him out just this once, and makes sure he takes steps to get organised, then at least he'll still have his job but will have had the chance to learn a vauable lesson....

I do agree not to give him any money in the meantime, though.

In the adult world many people lie to get round things- to traffic wardens, turning up late for a kids' birthday party, whatever. Not saying it's right or acceptable, just widespread.

If his alarm clock had broken or something then I'd be inclined to agree with you that his mum should help him out. But in this case he was playing his xBox.

As a parent one of the most important lessons we must teach is that you must be responsible for your own actions. To take the heat when you deserve it.

Help him by all means, just don't lie. 2 wrongs and all that.

Awww, I know how you feel. X
I Always have to get my son up for work. It's a nightmare, sometimes a 4am start and I just can not leave him to sort himself out, I know he will sleep straight through all the alarms, does do!
They aren't wired properly yet, it's not their fault.
