I was sooo shocked how busy town/supermarkets were today! My dp is a manager in tescos' and he has said its been getting really really busy even on wk days!
So my question is when do you all do your big xmas shop? Me and mum normally got about 1am on christmas eve, last year we got the last turkey in the store and that was because my dp was on nights and had someone out back searching for one!!!!!!
I love going thro the night and hearing all the xmas music but hate not being able to get down the aisle etc!
Not long now! :D

I will be doing my shop online the last shopping day available - think the wk before. I will then buy my fresh stuff locally the day before.
Have already got my Turkey Crown. Frozen, but I find they are just as good as fresh and much cheaper.0 -
Mine will be around the 21/22 but I will buy a turkey joint before that and keep it in the freezer.Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. I have been adding bits to my weekly online shop for the last month or so and now have everything apart from the fresh stuff.
I am having a Riverford veg box delivered on the 21st and will have the rest of my Christmas shop delivered the week before. I am probably going to have Tesco deliver on the Sunday to leave my week free for other things. I am taking a bit of a gamble that the pate I want will have a long enough date on it but the local costcutter will have some if not.
I am not going near a supermarket in the run up to Christmas if I can help it.0 -
i have booked a tesco delivery for the 23rd but that will be mostly a normal shop for us as im planning to get everything i can before that so only need the vegHave a Bsc Hons open degree from the Open University 2015 :j:D:eek::T0

Totally agree with you. I think some people find a bizarre enjoyment about having a trolley too heavy to push in the last few days before Christmas.
1 - anything non-perishable can be bought a bit at a time leading up to Christmas (appreciate some stuff may have to get hidden so it doesn't get eaten/ drunk!)
2 - Christmas shop can then be made up of fresh stuff only. Also think about your local shops for fresh fruit/ veg/ meat rather than the busy supermarkets
3 - I know the fact that some people are having guests and therefore need to buy more, but surely this is balanced by those 'visiting' and therefore don't need to shop? This year I am visiting others & therefore will just have a basket full of provisions. If you don't need to shop, think of the wallet & don't!0 -
It really is very busy - it's crazy! I have two full Asda Christmas cards and I'm going to get heavy bits (few cans of lager, couple of bottles of wine etc and all the soft drinks) delivered with my final 'normal' shop on the 10th and then I'm hoping to use the cards to do bits in shifts as of the 15/18th - and then the final fresh bits on the 23rd.
Going to nip out on Christmas Eve for a couple of last minute bits too - but I'm talking like 6am - cos I don't want the person they're for to stumble across them before timePrincess Sparklepants0 -
I do mine anytime now really.
I will go this week and stock up on bargains on my list, then the week after and such i do my last minute fresh stuff usually the 24th in the early hours. I actually hate it the last bit i mean on the 24th as it is so busy and chaotic and ppl seem to grab at things like they are not going shopping again for months and typically the thing you want is out of stock till the afternoon delivery so you have to trapse back anyway at the busiest point.
I usually end up going back around 3pm 24th before they shut as they have some good bargains to be had. I am kinda lucky i have a big Tesco, new Asda store which will prob be the busiest store this year ,an Aldi, a B&M and a Morrisons a bit further away so i should be able to get my stuff somewhere lol.0
