Travel Lodge Yeovil or Beckington

Need some accommodation in this area and wonder if anyone has stayed at Yeovil or Beckington Travel Lodge and if so what did you think? Travel Lodges can vary so much from one to another - some are good some not so good.

  • hi shopndrop :) .. i recently moved to yeovil ..while in the process of finding a property i was looking for hotel accomodation. i initially looked at the travellodge but found it was several miles from yeovil town. I did however find the Globetrotter hotel http://www.theglobetrotters.co.uk/lodge/ :j
They often have "offers" not advertised on their website a recent offer they had was "two nights for the price of one" and "two rooms for the price of one" normal price of room being £49.99

I'm pretty sure the Yeovil travellodge is out on the A303, so should be safe. This is about 4 miles from the town I think. You wouldn't want to stay in Yeovil, trust me. Gotta be one of the worst towns in the country!! I live 20 mins away in Dorset, and even thats too close.

Is Yeovil an unsafe place to stay? We literally only need somewhere to sleep for the night, nothing else.
  • hi shop :) ..i moved to yeovil having lived up north all of my life (am 23) .. at first i was dreading the move id heard "horror stories" about yeovil and was expecting a bubble of chav society thriving on its own eco system. I couldnt have been more wrong. yeovil is a lovely town, nice people, great shops and their idea of "headline crime" is someone being punched!
Having said that, i think it depends upon the area you currently live. I was from a large city so the problems in yeovil are "childs play" to me.

No I wouldn't say it's unsafe, just not i "nice" place to stay. There are some nicer areas. The post above sums it up.
Everytime I have been to Yeovil, I have seen some people fighting though, which doesn't fill me with confidence. Maybe I go at the wrong times lol.

Just make sure you check out where abouts you book to stay thats all.

I stayed in this travelodge last year for a couple of nights whilst visiting Stonehenge,Avebury and Glastonbury. We found it really nice. Set a bit back from the road at an angle and sheltered by an earth bank and shrubbery. It was quite quiet at night ,unlike some of these places, and as usual very cheap at only about £60 for two nights for 3 of us!

Shopndrp - Yeovil isn't that bad, honest.. but if you're worried about it why not stay in Sherborne, which is just 5 miles away down the dual carriageway? A lot nicer, especially if you're walking around late at night!

Thanks for all replies but having seen Watchdog tonight and knowing we will not arrive until possibly midnight or even 1am, think we will give Travel Lodge a miss. Don't fancy trying to find somewhere else at that time of night.
