Winter Wonderland Hyde Park London

We are looking at taking our 5yr old twin daughters to the Winter Wonderland the first weekend in December. We live in Hertfordshire so it will only take 30 mins to get into KingsX.
Has anyone been before? Is it worth the anticipation? Will the girls gets bored? Are the rides there too over priced? Is there enough to do without having to spend lots of ££££ on rides all the time?!
Thank you. :rudolf:

We went a couple of years ago, and didn't think much of it for the children. The rides were quite pricey, but what you'd expect in London, the market stalls have some really different things to buy. My biggest memory was lots of people standing around drinking german beer!
However, I think if you can combine it with something else they'll enjoy a few rides, and the twinkling lights, you'll enjoy the atmosphere - but there's not enough to keep you entertained all day HTH0 -
I am taking my 7 yr old for the first time this year, not sure what to expect, but I have tickets for the ice ring and the wheel. After that we'll go to Hamleys and that alone will make him happy!0

We went last year, not with any children though. There are quite a lot of rides but they are quite pricy. The observation wheel is good but might be a bit boring for kids and is a bit more expensive, there is also ice skating. There are lots of market stalls etc and log cabins for mulled wine which is nice for adults. It is a nice place but not cheap.0

Hi
I went last year with my mum and sister, not with my 2 dd's but i remember saying that i'd love to take them (not that its going to happen this year). It isn't the cheapest place but its probably what you'd expect to pay for london. I do remember it being really cold but we soon warmed up after having a lovely hot roast pork cob and stuffing. There was more rides than what i expected. I would definately take my 2 dd's if i could as i love christmas and there was a lovely christmassy atmosphere.March 2014 Grocery challenge £250.000 -
We went last year and have to say we found it too expensive. The rides were very pricey and the stores were overpriced. It is lovely to walk around but I would never take young kids again unless I had alot of money in my pocket. I have recently posted over on the Days out forum about the cost of a pick and mix which came it at £7.20 and it was no more than 1/4lb.0

Totally agree, we went few years ago i took a couple of my sons friend's with us, none of us had alot of money but can still say the kids went on a few ride ,had hotdogs , and all in all had a really smashing day well worth it as we all enjoyed the atmosphere the lights are very pretty, i may go back this year, probably take our own hot dogs this year lol0 -
I've heard lots of great things about it and was tempted to take my DD's but when I priced up the ice skating, the circus, a few rides, the wheel, lunch and train /tube fares I was shocked. I've actually found a day trip to Euro Disney (via coach) for less money, so that's where we're off to."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0

I took my DD in Dec last year aged 3 (4 in Feb) She LOVED it, we had pre-booked ice-skating which was worth it. The Ice-skating was well organised and not too crowded, me and my DD throughy enjoyed it.
As for the rides, there is loads, we were there for about 3 hours and we didn't even see a quarter of them. Obviously it is busy and you have to queue for everything which can be upto 5/10 minutes.
You need to find a token booth first and buy tokens to use on the rides, I think most of the rides we went on were 2/3 tokens each. The queues for the token booths were HUGE and took about 20/30 minutes to get served, however I cannot remember at all how much the tokens cost I'm afraid.
I didn't buy any food or drink whilst I was there but I was led to believe it was very expensive and again the queues were big.
I would recommend it though as a special treat as it was fun and my daughter loved it. However if you can then I would advise going on a weekday which I expect it is much much quieter.0
