Quick question re Halifax Rewards Account

Ive just applied online for one of these accounts (free fivers yay!) and was given my account number and set up online banking etc. How long should I wait for the account to be fully active before putting some money in there? I know that some people have paid some into it straight away, and have had issues with it disappearing for a few days! And also, how long does it take to get the debit card?
Thanks!

Hi jen, the thing with Halifax they do give you a sort code and account number, but it doesn't mean you have been accepted!
You can still be declined, I know from a year ago from experience:o
Keep checking and you should soon see a decision, the last time I applied back in June this year I got an instant acceptance!
I then did a print out of the acceptance letter, took it into my local branch plus £100 to release the debit card.
I got the debit card pretty fast, about 3 days.
Just keep checking for a decision.0 -
I think it was accepted. Ater pressing submit, it went to a timer page then it came up with a message saying your account is now open this is your account no etc. When I log into internet banking, it shows up on the main page, wth a drop down box next to the roll number saying, take me to.....
I cant see anything regarding a decision, where will it be, and how long does it take to come through?
Thats a bit naughty, telling people their account is open and registering for online banking, if they are going to decine it!Debt free and staying that way! :beer:0 -

Halifax issue a sort code and account number for all applications - so even a declined account will have a sort code and account number.
However, if they have told you that the account has been opened, then they won't then come back and close it.
If they said that you've been accepted, then you can now pay in £100 to activate the account. It needs to stay there overnight, but be aware it may vanish for up to 48 hours. It will definitely reappear at the other end though, don't panic!0 -
Thanks rb10, it definitely said the account is open, and I have the options to make payments etc from the account. I have transferred in the money to activate it and its showing in the account so fingers crossed it will be ok!Debt free and staying that way! :beer:0
