Submit your idea for a new shower gel scent & 3 shortlisted entrants will visit the BS lab on 26th Jan 2011 to see their product made. One overall winner will also have their shower gel included as a limited edition product on the Originals range.

Terms and Conditions

1. To enter this competition:

a. you must submit your creative idea, submissions, suggestions, (in short “Contributions”) in English by midnight on 30 November 2010. You warrant that your Contributions are original and not the product of illicit copying.

b. you must be aged 18 or over and not be an employee of The Body Shop International PLC, or any of its subsidiaries or Franchisees around the world, or any other companies directly connected with the administration of this promotion, consultants of The Body Shop At Home™ and their families, nor be an employ, officer or agent of any company that operates in the cosmetics and toiletries industry.

c. no purchase is necessary.

d. you must be available on 26 January 2011 to visit our laboratory in Watersmead, Littlehampton, West Sussex, BN17 6LS, and for this purpose you must ensure to arrive in the UK (if you are flying in from abroad) by no later than the 25 January 2011, (which means you must have valid travel documents, such as a passport, visa, etc, and be fit and healthy for such travel), failing which you will forfeit your place, which will be allocated to the next person in line.

2. In entering the competition you understand and agree that:

a. we may use, assess and evaluate freely your Contributions, with a view to independently developing a fragrance that somehow is “inspired” by your Contributions.

b. this is a purely promotional competition, and that our use of your Contributions shall under no circumstance be deemed to give rise to any employment, agency, consultancy or other professional relationship between yourself and The Body Shop.

c. the Body Shop will own all intellectual property rights in or in relation to the fragrance, including copyright, trademark, registered design, design right, trade secret, formulations, etc. and you acknowledge that your Contributions are not and are not intended to be of a professional nature, do not have any commercial value, and you will not expect or ask, nor will you be entitled to any compensation in consideration of such gratuitous Contributions, and The Body Shop shall be free to commercialize at its absolute discretion the fragrance or other derivative products.

d. you assign any copyright that you may have in the Contributions to The Body Shop and surrender any moral rights thereof, including the right to be identified as the author or creator.

e. you consent to your contributions and name appearing publicly on the competition website and any other promotional material.

3. The prize for each of the three entrants shortlisted comprises of a trip for two to The Body Shop laboratory mentioned above, which includes the following expenses: (i) two return economy air tickets from your country of residence if you live outside the UK to any London airport (ii) transport from London to our laboratory in Littlehampton (iii) at least 3 star hotel accommodation for three nights sharing, including 25 and 26 January (and either 24 or 27 January, depending on flight details), (iv) allocation of spending money of £1,000 only (while you will be responsible for any other expense).

4. If you are one of our three shortlisted entries:

a. You agree that we will use the contact details you have provided to let you know you have been shortlisted and to discuss travel details with you

b. You agree to be available for an interview as well as a photo shoot and that we may record your voice and image, in tape, film or other such medium for the PR, promo, web stories

c. You agree that we may publish your name and your interview (or transcript thereof and including your voice and image) in whole or in part (with appropriate edits to fit particular media) on our websites, to broadcast, podcast or otherwise show via any media and in any forum anywhere in the world, now or in the future, without any remuneration, or acknowledgement and without any limitation whatsoever.

5. The ultimate winner will be selected from the three shortlisted entries by a judging panel comprised of a small number of carefully selected The Body Shop managers or professionals covering areas in marketing, product development and innovation and public relations, joined by one external judge yet to be determined (likely to be a beauty editor). The decision of the judging panel will be final and no correspondence will be entered into. The winner will have his/her name acknowledged internationally as being the source of inspiration for the development of the shower gel scent. If you are the ultimate winner, you consent to having your name used in this way.
