I think the opposite. I reckon food will go up for the followwing reasons... Grain harvests have been poor and countries that produce grain and rice are failing to export enough of it, farmers have been stitched up by the supermarkets and going out of business daily which means we will have to import more from other countries, we do not produce enough in this country (not even 50% of the food we eat), vat going up and petrol going up next year will have a knock on effect on food and stuff like toiletries.

Despite all this and that we are in a recession(which supposedly dampens demand) supermarkets are raking in massive profits. You are correct that farmers are being stitched up but the public does not see any of this cost cutting in the form of lower prices. They are paying less and charging more and are only gettting away with it because we are a rich country with most consumers blindly buying goods with no concern about prices. Next year this may all change when the ConDem policies begin to kick in.
