What could an elderly greatgrandparent give?

My elderly parents have acquired their first 2 baby greatgrandchildren this year.... What could they give them this Christmas that is easy, cheap but not mean, appropriate and doesn't set too much of a precedent as their income falls, the number of greatgrandchildren grows and as they find things harder to manage and organise? The absolutely ideal thing would have been £10 or £20 worth of Premium Bonds but the minimum spend of £100 is far too much. It will be hard for them to choose the right toys or clothes and parcel them up and post them but they won't want to send money. Any ideas anyone? I'm stumped.

My aunt gave my brother, sister and I a new tree decoration every year during our childhood, she passed away unexpectedly last year and we have a beautiful collection to remember her by now every festive season.
They can be light, so easy to post, soft ones will survive the mail etc.
I'm tearing up thinking about mine now haha!0 -

that's a nice idea.
You could buy one with their names onBusy working Mum of 3 :wave:0 -
It may seem silly, but give them a camera then 'mummy and daddy' can send regular pictures to great-grandma!
The tree decoration is a lovely idea though.0 -
Love the idea of a tree decoration - and of a camera - both great ideas. Think the tree decoration has to be the best though (sorry!) but thinking about using it every Christmas and the memories it will bring back.2014 will be all about ME!
( well that hasn't happened!!!)
Mortgage free. Will be debt free in Nov 2014. Credit card £2500 -
As far as I am aware the Post Office do some thing called Childrens Bonds that can be bought in £25 lots. You get a certificate and can have printed on it the name or names of the giver. I believe they are held until the child is 18 and can be added to each year.0

here you go try this: http://www.buyagift.co.uk/Category/Id/13003/Name/Personalised_Christmas_Baubles
I saw these earlier and thought they were nice. There were some discount codes too.0 -
Could they make a scrapbook, with old family photographs, stories about their childhood, how they met, their memories of their own parents, grandparents etc, a family tree.
I am now tracing my family history and I so wish I had had some of that information from my own grandparents (my great grandparents died long before I was born)0
