Probably worst jobs were as a hospital domestic when I was at uni, closely followed by telesales. I used to clean the offices at the hospital which you would think wasnt too bad but they were a pretty mucky lot!! I have to handle all sorts in my current job but you get used to it i think!!*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200

i was made redundant when my work burnt down, with a mortgage to pay and kids to feed i took the 1st job i was offered.....TRAFFIC WARDEN!, to be fair i hated the job! but the guys and girls doing the job at the time were great and really friendly, plus now i know the system and it's a true fact the first words out your mouth determins whether your ticket stands or not... i told the boss on my 1st day, "when i get an offer to leave i'm out of here", he was understanding with that comment which i thought was strange then, but understand now...
thankfully i'm back to the engineering now0 -
Cold calling for the credit card arm of a certain bank in order to sell cardholders PPI and personal accident plans.
It was quite possible to earn in excess of £500 per week as the salary and commission were generous, but I didn’t care about that at all, as the job was so dreadful.
Rude customers, hang-ups and swearing were only minor concerns, as the biggie for me was the way staff were treated. If you didn’t hit ‘target’, you could expect public humiliation in front of dozens of other colleagues.
I made the grave mistake of respecting my customers’ wishes and NOT doing the hard sell thing. This wasn’t acceptable for the company, as you were supposed to badger customers incessantly until you broke their will and they felt forced to buy the s**t we were selling.
Moreover, you could be told off like a child [again, publicly], for committing the crime of spending 2 minutes on the toilet during calling time, or for spending less than 5 seconds between computer-generated calls [literally, 5 seconds was the cut off point, and the computer recorded this].0 -
I did a few shifts in a factory when I was a student- it was mind numbingly boring, I remember we had a radio and while it was nice to have a bit of music all I remember was thinking "oh dear the news hasn't been on yet that means less than an hour has passed...""It's nice to be important but it's more important to be nice." :T0

I know it's not funny to have such horrible jobs but this has made me giggle.
Cleaning the local bacon factory. Emptying huge amounts of water over parts of the machines to wash the bits of bacon out onto the floor which was then a swimming pool of greasy water with bits floating in it that had to be cleaned up. Revolting.
This was only topped by washing a football teams' kit in the bath. I was 8 months pregnant so couldn't do a proper job and had to put my hand inside sweaty filthy socks to turn them the right way out and then hose them down to get the worst of the mud off before they went in the washing machine. I got paid £2.50 for it!
Some of the other posters have had it much worse though!0 -

catering assistant for a children day care centre.
they order in ALL food for the kids and its that MUCK full of crap that u wouldnt seve to an animal! and what was 10x worse was all the kids were disabled and they were feeding them trash with NO nutrients.
ALL STAFF had their own menu with jacket potatos and salad that I had to make fresh daily. on day 2 i opened the sack of potatos on the floor and out came a running cockroach!!!!!!! it was the biggest and most hideous thing i'd ever seen in a kitchen and around food!
of course i fed said potatos to the staff, as after all they didnt eat the muck the kids ate so they got sum karma with the potatos that had a cockroach all around em.
i went straight back to the agency after 4 days and said i wasnt going back. they actually didnt even seem surprised, im guessin loads were shocked @ the conditions and left sharpish!0 -

Working door-to-door selling alarms whicle six month pregnant - lasted one day as it was commission only and no-one in the crappy area they made us work in cared about alarms. I must have walked about 6 miles in the 10 hours we were out there (In winter)
Worked in a factory bending ear-pieces for glasses - mindnumbing work and we coulnt talk over the machines.
But the worst was working in a cafe for a supermarket, clearing tables and washing plates - the food was !!!!!, the people where horrid and the floor was covered in grease - it was also the middle of summer and about 35 degrees in there.Moving on up
