Giving homemade cards as a present...

We're thinking of making some cards for family and friends and putting them in a box as a present they can then use on others when occasions arise. However I dont know whether it would be a good idea to give them to my nan as she makes cards herself as well? Would it seem rude to give her some? I dont want it to appear that I'm saying her cards are rubbish or anything...

i dont know what i think really:rotfl:
one way to look at it is, if she didnt have time to make some, she would welcome having some there
but on the other hand, its not something for her really
its something for her to give away
see i would love that, as i dont make cards
so having hand made ones would be wonderful
sorry i am no help
i shall shut up:o0 -
Hi
I don't think it matters that your nan makes cards, because it's always handy to have spares.
I was just considering how I would react as I used to make my cards. It's a present I would like to receive, because I know the work put into cardmaking, and would appreciate having some extras for times I haven't made any.
If I didn't like the cards for any reason, I could always write in the card they were made by someone else (in case I was embarassed:)).
An alternative for your nan is to give some cardmaking stash instead of the finished ones (which has suddenly given me an idea for a present).0 -
I did this for MIL for Mothers Day this year. She's 90 ande virtually housebound so I did a box full of about 15, some birthday, some blank for any occassion.i I added a pen and a little sachet with some stamps in She said she was really pleased with them as she can't get out to choose any herself......having said that OH and me both had shop bought cards for birthdays............lol
(Maybe she thought it would be rude to give us back what we'd given her ? I don't know);)I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

Okay, I just wouldnt want to seem rude or like I was saying her cards were no good or whatever. Although the idea of giving her things to make cards with sounds good, she has been known to sell things like that people have given her because she likes picking her own things I did wonder whether to maybe get her a hobbycraft voucher or something along those lines instead though?0

`If you are looking for nice useful gift over not spending to much money how about making a box of things to go with cards. I made sister a box of cards but added different types of wrapping paper, labels, gift tags, sellotape etc as shes not very organised. Its always handy to have for different ocasions and you will always use.0

I once made my mum and MIL a concertina file which I adapted and decorated then filled with hand made cards.
It was fab for both as neither make cards...you could always make her a concertina file(I got an A5 size one from asda) or a box to store her cards in rather than make her cards?
Hope that helps?Weekly Spend Challenge £200 -
Do you just make cards, or other stuff? You could make (or decorate) a birthday book so she has a list of everyones birthday. I'm in the middle of making a whole bunch of calenders (basically a card with one of those little calenders attached!!) I've also just made my mum a christmas planner (a 12x12 sheet of card folded at 4&8", and a 4" flap at bottom, and then cut paper into strips, stamped and put into each flap for gift lists, card lists, shopping lists etc.) hopefully these links are the photos of it!
