MBNA credit cards - more than one?

If you already have a Virgin CC, can you apply for another MBNA owned CC? Like for example this one https://wwwa.mbna.co.uk/apply/UKCCapp/Ctl/entry?sc=8pt48rfl_ost&mc=ECO-UK-33333-12386

Yes you can, I have 2 MBNA cards plus an AA card which is also MBNA.

Only thing is they may take existing credit limit into account when giving you a limit on new card. When I got the AA card with a £2000 limit they dropped the limit on one of the other cards by the same amount.

Yes, but your chances of acceptance and decent limit will depend on the management of the other account and, most importantly, any existing balance.

Be aware that they may reduce the limit on the other card if you're accepted.
  • The card in question is at a £7,700 limit with about a hundred pounds off that on the card, and he only makes the minimum payment each month. Never misses a payment though, and excellent credit history apart from not being on electoral roll yet *rolls eyes*

He doesn't actually want to change this card, he is looking to transfer another balance to the new card. He already has most of the 'good' cards like Virgin, Santander etc.

You can't balance transfer from one MBNA card to another

If he already owes them £7,600 and is not on the Electoral Roll then he would be wasting his time applying in my opinion.

You can, but not directly. It'd have to be via a 'money transfer'.
  • He is not wanting to transfer Virgin to MBNA, I thought I'd made that clear. Sorry. Anyway, he wants to transfer a balance from another provider to MBNA.

When he's on the electoral roll would it be more of a chance, or forget it? Could you suggest another card?
  • Who does MBNA search with for credit cards. I have Saga card at the minute and was wondering if they used the same company to search??
