Hope your holiday was fantastic. If you haven't trawled therough the ast weeks threads yet (and if not why not? lol), my pennies cleared onto my card yesterday morning so I looked on lots of sites seeing what I could find. I'd been looking during the week at what offers were around and then looking at the individual hotels and reviews.

Afte definitely choosing Egypt I decided (I translates as we as dh is insisting on leaving me to it all and just nodding in appropriate places) I didn't like the sound of Sharm and a lot of the hotels listed for Sharm were actually quite a drive out anyway. Then went onto Hurghada which I liked the sound of and was almost convinced of but found a flight to the Marsa Alam area for £120 and thought I must be able to do something with this saving! I looked through my brochures and websites again, and remembered speaking to a travel agent earlier in the year who was going there herself as she felt it was total relaxation and more idyllic than the area more built up for tourists

Found what I thought was a bargain on destinationholidays.com £662 inc. all except transfers for a superior beach front room, all inclusive at the 5* Brayka Bay Reef Resort. Was having problems with the booking so gave them a call and when they looked at their system it was coming in at almost £200 more expensive. She had a look round their system as she agreed the flight was a very good price but the best she could come up with was via a tour operator (so inc. flights meals, transfers, etc now) for £733 at the 4* Calimera Habiba for all inclusive. I remembered seeing the hotel in the borchure and thought it looked gorgeous but wanted to check reviews, etc so said I would call back.

i'M waffling I know.... lol

Checked out tripadvisor specifically as this as turned into a horror site for me. Every hotel I've looked at has a horror review somehwere along the lines that worries the hell out of me as I'll be gutted if our belated honeymoon goes bad. This hotel has no bad reviews yet! OK so it only opened in April this year but it has as many reviews as others in the area and comes out top in Marsa Alam! It sounded promising

I remembered it was the Thomas Cook brochure I'd seen it in so wondered out of curiosity I could get it off on their site now (was about £800+ ) when I was first looking. It was now coming in at £662.40 ! I was really pleased with this price so have gone ahead and booked after finding my insurance via moneysupermarket of course. If someone tells me they've found the same at a little cheaper I won't be too gutted as I know others will disagree but I find something a little comforting about being on a package in acountry much further than I've been before. Someone meeting you at the airport and the rep lives onsite too apparently and is lovely

So thank you thank you for being nice to me and offering to help but I've gone and done it myself naughty girl that I am who just can't wait. Now I just have to calm those mother guilt nerves about leaving my little ones for 7 days. I don't think they'll completely go but then I wouldn't want to be someone who doesn't care at all so I can't win

    Glad you got it sorted.
Your hubby sounds like mine and just lets me get on with it with a nod of agreement inbetween when i know full well he couldnt care less where he goes.
Our holiday, well what can i say not what i really expected after all the reviews i had read etc and glad we only went for a week and not 2.
I did try to get on to check things out from the hotel but their idea of high speed internet isnt ours and at times could barely turn a page which frustrated the hell out of me(im definetly not a patient person).
Anyway not sure i will be on that much today(but will try) i have loads to do and i really could do with some more sleep as i feel shattered.
If you ever need help with anything else dont hesitate to ask.
