Romantic Weekend away in January/Feb

Hi guys,

I'm helping out a friend who is planning a suprise getaway for her OH. I'm about to start trawling the net, but i know how great you all are at suggesting hidden places that i'd never find on my own.

The criteria is:
  1. £150 budget MAX!!!
  2. 2 nights (Fri&Sat only)
  3. within UK
  4. romantic
  5. Jan/Feb
They're Cheshire based, so i'm thinking the Lake District???

Right i'm off to start the search :D i'll pop back later ;)

  • Its not the lake district but The Tempest Arms in Skipton is fab for a romantic gettaway.....especially one of the suites with a private hot-tub, and very reasonably priced (within budget) and has an ajoining restaurant that serves great food and not so expensive prices.

    Hope that helps
  • i had no idea that place existed! Definite possibility! :D

It could be very chilly and snowy/raining at that time of the year which could cause travel probs. Would a city based break be a safer bet?

The McDonald chain have lovely hotels (including Lake District, we stayed at the Old England). See if they have any special offers on as it is very low season in those months:

This one may be good for them? From £49.50 per person per night Its a bit over your budget but does include some meals and extras which would make it special.

The Aphrodite hotel in Lake district is gorgeous, we stayed in the Snow Queen room.

Edit- Just seen the budget and for a fri/sat it's more expensive so might be too much.

I found last year that the big hotel chains had some fantastic sales in January. The Hilton for example had 50% of hotel bookings made in January.

Is there anyway she can hold on until then? There could be some fab bargains to be had.
