Is it possible to buy someone SKY TV for Xmas? Wanna watch attheraces channel on SKY

Hi all

My parents are the old fashioned type couple that will not entertain ever setting up a direct debit or using a bank etc, etc. However, they love to watch the horse racing channel attheraces and the channel racing UK when they are at my house. Both these Channels are on SKY TV. I would like to buy it for them for their house but have the direct debit come out of my Bank Account. So, my questions are:

Can I buy SKY for my Parents?
What subscription do I need to be able to watch these channels?

You just need to order the Sky,put your parents address as the install adress as well as their phone number for the on demand.(box will have to be connected to the phone for the first 12 months unless you pay £25 for a no phoneline install)
Then provide your bank details for the monthly payments.
To get the racing,they'd need to sign up to the base pack + sports if I'm correct.

why d you have to pay £25 for them "not" to connect the phone lead? sounds like another charge for doing sod all, i'd love to dump virgin, but i dont have a phone line, and i wont have one as i have a mobile which is cheaper than having a landline and its always with me, whereas i cant answer a home phone when i'm at work

It is to recompense Sky for the subsidy they would otherwise receive for your install from a seperate company XXX Interactive Services who pay that subsidy from fees they charge broadcasters in the EPG fees and from other companies and bodies such as the Directgov pages available through the interactive services function of the box.

Yup,used to be British Interactive Broadcasting iirc.That's part of the reason why Sky will only give you one box at a discounted price (or free) & charge full price for additional boxes.

only if you have multi room will they ever check, its so that you cant resell the £10 multiroom card
