cheap as possible obviously... any advice is appriciated but would prefer small as possible with a full keyboard.

For a cheap smart phone - there is always the orange spv c500 recon £69.99
although its a bit old now and its a rebranded HTC running the older version of windows mobile. But they are easy to unlock for free.
