Hello..I'd like to go away for Xmas too. Somewhere in this country, was thinking about Butlins but have been put off by not so good reveiws. All the hotel breaks I've looked at seem really expensive.
Any one got any advice or good or bad experiences?0 -
Have a look at the Forrestry Commission website. They have a few sites in England/Scotland. I've stayed at the one near Strathyre previously and it was really, really nice.
Cabins are well equipped and situated within easy reach of Edinburgh, Glasgow and especially Stirling. At the same time it is located on the banks of a very peaceful tranquil loch. Heaven.
On the downside - they aren't the cheapest - but I suppose it depends on how many of you are travelling.
Hope this helps.0 -
We always book a cottage for Xmas for around £500."There are no pockets in a shroud..."0

Try the Jonas Centre, its in Redmire, Wensleydale in some beautiful countryside. Log cabins sleep 6 and are from £30 a day for the cabin not per person! It has a small animal sanctuary and we saw hens, foxes etc roaming about when we went this year. Dogs are allowed if you have one. They are clean and comfortable cabins in a stunning location. There's a nice pub down the road. They have a website if you just search "the Jonas Centre".0
