Maternity Tens Machine

Hi,

Rather than paying ~£20 to rent a TENS machine for my wife I've seen a few knocking around new for ~£25 which obviously we could sell again after the birth and save a bit of money. Has anyone got any advice on what's a good one or a good place to get one from?

TIA

Dave

  • You can hire them from Boots.
  • Worth checking out your local Lloyds Chemist - they were selling them for £9.99 earlier this year NB they also rent them!

Here we can rent them from health visitor/midwife or as already posted I rented mine from Boots.

Don't know about which are good ones though mine was excellent. Only advice... try it out fully before the day she needs it to make sure all working properly & have spare set of batteries that fit ready too!

I couldn't stand the TENS machine. It did absolutely nothing to help the pain, and it filled me full of static so nobody could touch me without us both getting an electric shock. Not good when people need to examine you errrm down there
Here I go again on my own....
  • My o/h rented hers from Mothercare online.

Would definetly reccomend trying it out beforehand and dont expect it to work wonders.

My o/h TENS machine didnt take any pain away but it did take her mind off things by messing about with the settings :)

Certain people swear by the machines and others say they did nothing for them so dont expect miracles.

Most of all good luck to you and your wife

I would highly recomend a TENs, i've used them with my 3 labours (last one 2 weeks ago!) and works a treat.
It needs to be attached in the early stages of labour to build up endorphin levels - i would recommend like everyone else using prior to big event, feels very different using it in non labour to labour.

I have rented from Boots twice before, but on the last one used my Mums machine from Boots - it states not for use in labour, but i discussed it with my midwife and chemist and this is just an insert as labour machines should have full instructions given to you when you rent.
Basically, worked in exactly the same way as rented machines. so worth investing in one if you are going to use more than once.

    Best of luck!
    How much ?????????!!!
