Transferring in to Kent Reliance

Hi

Now I have lost all respect for A&L (what took me so long I hear you ask...!) I'm in the process of making sure I only use them for the bare minimum until my year is up (I've got the 10% reg saver on the go).

I currently have an A&L ISA, only giving 4.75% now so I think it could be time to move to the Kent Reliance direct variable rate ISA at 5.21%.

In another thread, ReportInvestor kindly provided the following....
http://www.krbs.co.uk/directisa.aspx

Kent Reliance BS. 5.21%.

Download application form

Download transfer form

It is operated by post but there are no strings / no notice.

I'm having a thick moment here with the forms, please help - the transfer form seems straightforward enough, but on the actual application form it asks (twice) for an amount of Initial sum being invested.

As I'm maxed out this year and all I want to do is transfer, is this best left blank, crossed out or £0.00 entered ?

  • I hope this will be OK for you.

I'd draw an arrow from the box and write - amount = full transfer from A&L - see attached transfer form.

But I'm not speaking from experience. Did anyone else successfully transfer having already made their ISA investment in 2006/7?

Blimey that was quick - do you live on this site ? :D

That sounds like a good idea - it should be clear enough for them to understand.
I guess I could give them a bell just to be on the safe side.

I fear A&L won't be quick to send the cheque off - indications on their website says to expect 14-28 days !

KR do seem a good bet, I am sure somebody mentioned that you could transfer this years ISA aswell and then continue to contribute to it once you are set up, not sure how this works practically, suppose you must remember to stop any standing orders into old ISA, I guess you could lose a months interest in the process. Is KR a good carpet bag aswell ? I don't see any sign-away clauses. I am also considering KR and Ruffler, might split previous years over the two, think I will stick to variable rates mind as i think BOE may give us another 1/2 point over the next year and then hold it as utility bills come back down and hopefully so does inflation.

I have various one year bond investments with Kent Reliance. Earlier this year I also transferred my TOISA to them. I have always found them extremely efficient and helpful to do business with and if you don't want to be regularly checking interest rates and wondering whether you're getting a good deal, they regularly appear in the "most consistent" providers.

they are also 'ethically neutral' and provide the best rates within that category
