Anyone else noticed how ridiculously small the garlic bulbs are in sainsbury's?! less than half the size of how they used to be. I usually buy the organic ones as they r cheaper but even the basics one is just as small. like they all have slithers for each clove!
Going to a different store didn't help.

They were the same in Tesco today too - maybe it's something to do with the time of year?0

Garlics like the sun, they grow bigger in the sun, heat and with plenty of water. Right now we don't have alot of them and it could be likely that the supermarkets have a contract with certain farmers or garlic growers. These contracts may well have been made months in advance- before anyone could have predicted the cold spell (weather in the UK last year was freakishly warm for the time of year then suddenly got very cold just around Christmas).
I'd hold off, get some garlic puree or make do and wait, they will no doubt change suppliers to another country within a few weeks.
Blame it on the weather!0
