I'm looking for recommendations for luxury spa hotels (swimming pool, massage, fitness suite) for a few days break in December, somewhere in the UK with good rail/airport links nearby.
Budget is approx £250 per night which would hopefully include cost of breakfast & evening meal. Thank you in advance

I can thoroughly recommend Ragdale Hall, which is near Melton Mowbray. I have been there twice and it is amazing. The spa area has about a dozen different sensory rooms, two swimming pools (including an outside area), a huge treatment menu, and the food is amazing. They have a huge array of classes, the gym is well equipped. In fact, I can't fault it, except that they bring you breakfast in bed and that doesn't suit me.
See here for a special offer they have in December: http://www.ragdalehall.co.uk/offer_detail.cfm/offer_ID/54/title/title=Winter-Offers-2010/2011

I second that Ragdale Hall is amazing. I love the breakfast in bed element (something I don't get at home!) I try and go 2-3 times a year not very mse but worth every penny.SPC 2011 #758 - no target just a surprise #20 - £365 in 365 days 4/365 Olympic chal #46 - debt free by July 2012 £6739/£189390

hi
i have stayed at this hotel many times and had a really good time they even have 4 poster rooms with spa bath http://www.damsondene.co.uk/0 -
We've just come back from the Kettering Hotel & Spa - lovely hotel. Part of the Shire Group of hotels- they have a few dotted around the country. OK, it was based just off the A14 in a business park, but once inside the hotel, you wouldn't know where you were.0

UIf you can be flexible with dates then this offer at Pennyhill park in Bagshot may get you what you require within budget. Spa is out of this world and rooms are not your run of the mill boxes, but more individual.
Its not an intimate place as pretty large but its lovely and they do amazing afternon teas and as mentioned the spa is one of the best anywhere0 -
Third vote for Ragdale from me, having been to a few different spas (various Champneys, numerous day spas) Ragdale was such a lovely place to stay, very helpful staff, lovely food. I can't wait to go back!!0

Special offer on at Champneys at the moment.

Two nights, inclusive of all meals starting at £258 per room (at Springs, I've stayed there and loved it - and the best treatments I have ever experienced ). You get two 25 min treatments for one person included as well but at that price you've got nearly £250 to spend on treatments - heaven!!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
