Confused!

Hi, just after a bit of advice please.

I have a joint Barclays account with my husband and have a £3500 overdraft which I am heavily into almost permanently.

I was just doing my online banking and noticed that every month I pay £28 for Overdraft Payment Protection - never even knew we had this!!

My first thought was to try and dispute this payment and claim it back. My overdraft has been going up and up over the years, but it has probably been this amount for at least 3 years and possibly more.

However, it then came to me that in addition to this, my husband has been on Incapacity Benefit after being retired through ill health in around 2007. Sooo, I think I could have made a claim then via this O.P.P.

Main question is, how does it work? This is a joint account and I am still in work (part time - 26 hours per week). So does this mean that as one of us is still working I couldn't claim? Or would the claim be cut in half?

Basically, should I go down the route of claiming on the overdraft payment protection, OR should I claim for the misselling of the O.P.P.

Any refund this could bring in would be more than welcome and I would use it to pay off some of the overdraft.

Also, if I try and claim on this O.P.P. and they refuse, because I am still working, even though my husband isn't (he is in receipt of a private pension, incapacity benefit and DLA), does this then prevent me from trying to reclaim the OPP? Obviously, I would be delighted with one or the other, anything would do!!

Thanks in advance.

W.

    Hi there

keeping this one bumped for you, so hopefully someone who knows more of the Overdraft protection will post up with some advice for you, good luck with this.

Also just a suggestion, contact the branch who should be able to confirm the conditions on claiming on this if you can.;)
