Berlin in October

What's good in Berlin at this time of year for a mother and twenty-something daughter. Like art, sightseeing, walking, cakes, cycling.

& is there a secret to getting discounts on the usual Berlin things?

Ok firstly I am green with envy! Went there for 3 nights in the summer and loved it :)
For getting around buy a day pass for the U Bahn and S Bahn as it works out cheaper.
    Not to miss:
    • Brandenburg Gate
    • Jewish Memorial (round the corner from Brandenbur Gate
    • Checkpoint Charlie (bit commercialised but worth a visit)
    • Topographie De Terrors

If you have time a trip to Wannsee to the to the newly opened house of the Wannsee Conference. A very moving and informative Jewish museum.

The Reichstag would be worth a visit but be prepared to queue at all times of the day and night.

The department store Ka De We is fantastic and well worth a visit.

Get yourself a good map and wander round it is an amazing city.

Check out this website as it has a lot of great ideas http://gogermany.about.com/gi/dynamic/offsite.htm?zi=1/XJ&sdn=gogermany&zu=http://www.berlin-tourist-information.de/english/berlin-erleben/e_be_nachtleben.php

    Enjoy :)

Get yourselves a "Welcome Card" and a mueum pass.
  • Been there the last 2 years in October. Aswell as what has been already suggested, I would recommend visiting Victory Column, TV Tower & the East Side Gallery. Great city. Plenty to do. I'm sure you'll have a good time!
  • Unless the weather is unusual I would say most of the normal Berlin attractions are all year round ones.

Berlin is very huge, but the transports are good, so it's better to get organized in time. If you don't have much time, it is better to go on an organized bus trip the first day and later return on your own to the sites you enjoyed most.
Also you shouldn't miss a visit to the Pergamom museum, a boat trip on the river. You should also go to Potsdam to visit the Sanssouci castle and the Cecilienhof (the villa where the treaty ending the 2 WW was signed).
