Frustration to offer - but buyers not on market yet ahhhh!!!

To be honest we had agreed that when our contract ends (25/11) that we would pull the house of the market, concentrate on saving as we have settled jobs etc but would like to move as we have a new born and be closer to family.
If the EA don't manage to sell, we will put the house back on the market until the end of our contract and in the meantime IF the current 'buyers' manage to sell in that timeframe then we will sell!!0 -
I don't want to raise your hopes but this happened to us when we sold our last house. It had been for sale for 9 months with one offer which had fallen through and we were thoroughly fed up and frustrated. The estate agent rang with an offer but said the buyer had just put theirs on the market but it was expected to sell within a week. I refused to accept their offer or take it off the market but told them to come back to us when it sold. It was a complete shock to us when they did in fact sell it straight away and proceeded to buy ours. So, although I agree with everyone above in theory, it can happen. Hope it happens for you.0

With that in mind it is worth giving them 7 days - its not long and gives you a weeks breather. You never know.....fingers crossed for you... lets hope they don't get an offer from a buyer who hasn't marketed their property yet!
Sorry thats not very funny! 0 -
Little update since we accepted the offer on Sat...
Got a call from EA, firstly they are NOT going to remove us from the market....although we were told this was a condition from the buyer when agreeing to make a higher offer which we accepted...
Secondly, the buyers are now doubting wether our house is in the catchment area to the school they want to send there kids (fair enough or are they doubting there position). We will now have to wait (how long god knows) until they get the answer from the council/school...
Either way, 2 negatives in my mind, well 6 days and counting...0 -
good job the EA aren't taking it off the market cos would that then mean your contract with them would end? Cos if they are not marketing it - you are effectively still paying them for their services for which they aren't doing anything!! If it was me I would feel like I could be losing out on possibly a prospective buyer for 7 days. Until survey has been done I wouldnt hold my breath and even then unfortunately things still can and do go wrong.0

Unfortunately you haven't really received an offer as the buyers aren't proceedable so its really kind of meaningless?
I am of the opinion in current difficult market that viewing whilst not on the market is OK but offering when not proceedable is pointless. Why didn't they just market theirs after expressing an interest and then wait and see if they get viewings even, let alone offers.
All it does is gets people's hopes up. The only positive for you is you have already resigned yourself to coming off the market so nothing really to lose at this stage0 -
Just a phone call from EA stating the buyers had gone live onto the market (via RM etc)...
Nothing back regarding buyers and schools...
5 Days left...0 -
Good luck with it all.
Why is it taking so long for them to hear back from the school? Schools will know their 'catchment area' so would be able to give them a very good idea over the phone.:rotfl:0 -
OFFER WITHDRAWN!! - THOUGH BUYERS STILL NOT SOLD!!

Got a call from EA around 2ish, OFFER WITHDRAWN as it turns out the school is 3.6m from door step to door step from our house. Schools insist you must be within 0.6m to make sure of a place at the school of your choice!!
So thats then, a week of hope (well 5 days) finished and back to the drawing board!!0
