Car buying or leasing?

Its that time where I need to get a new car...I've come across lots of personal leasing deals that look good....
has anyone had experience of leasing? Is this a better option for me than saying buying a nearly new car ?

It depends on your circumstances. There are lots of deals around on nearly new cars, finance is quite cheap if you shop around and at the end of the term, the car is yours. With leasing, the car is never yours and at the end of the deal you end up with nothing. The best thing to do (probably) is to look at the type of car you want, work out how much it would cost you to buy - how much it would be worth at the time you wanted to sell, and then compare to the cost of leasing.
Also, on lease deals, please check the mileage restrictions as some can be offered with annual mileage limits of 6000 miles. If you do more, you pay a set amount per mile - you need to factor that in.0 -
a lot depends on how long you intend to keep the vehicle. If you are the sort of person that wants a new car every couple of years then leasing is a very attractive proposition (after all, unlike owning a house -v- renting, a car isnt going to go up in value). If you are not sure and may decide to keep the car for 5 years then purchase suddenly becomes more appealing. Of cause the other big consideration if if you are in a possition to buy the car outright (ie so just lose the savings interest) or will have to borrow to finance the purchase. All posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers

Over the last few years ive done both.
Leasing was great in some respects - fully serviced, Tax disc through the post - really no hassle. I leased a car that was the last style of that particular model and got an absolute steal. I worked out how much my repayments where over the 3 year deal i took - if i had bought new the depreciation would have been far greater than the leasing costs.
Depends on what deals you can find i guess0 -
I have never thought about leasing..... Where would I find more information out about it......
