Has anyone got a boy & girl who share a bedroom ? i am considering the idea then our teenage son can have his own room .The youngest two are ages 3 & 4 .I am not sure it will be a good idea just weighing up the pros & cons .I can see why my 14 year old son would want his own room as his younger brother has loads of toys so the room does look alittle babyish even though we have decorated it to look more grown up .Any advice /ideas ?

I would certainly have the younger two sharing. There's no harm in them sharing for a good few years yet.
My brother and I shared until we were 10 and 11.0 -
Due to overcrowding in her 2 bed council flat my daughters children have shared since they were born, her oldest actually moved to her Dads at 14 because she didn't want to share with her 10yr old brother anymore, the two youngest now a girl 7 and a boy 13 have shared all their lives.. my daughter has just move her son into what was the dining area of her kitchen so that he can have a little privacy from his very noisy little sister..
I would say that a 14yr old will appreciate the privacy and the other two can happily share for a while as they are so young.. your older boy may well be at uni or moved out by the time they need their own rooms.. its not an ideal solution but you just have to do the best you can with limited space..#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

Thanks everyone do wish we had the option to move to a 4 bedroom but thats not going to happen so im trying to make everyone happy .The yougest two do play nicely together with each others toys so it does make sense then it doesnt matter if they mess there room up .My 14 year old doesnt have toys anymore so it would be nice to set up a bedroom fit for a teenager .I am stuck now on how would i decorate a room suitable for a boy & girl ?0

Due to overcrowding here, my 2yoB and 3yoG will be sharing later on this year. Its not the sharing that I have the problem with, it's how to decorate so its suitable for both!
As someone else said, you just do whats best with the limited space.0 -

go with pale blue, or how about silver (space theme for your little boy, glittery stars for your little girl). Or pale green (outdoors theme, and can be a calming colour ).0 -
My children have separate bedrooms and have always done so...you'd think they would be grateful...no, they don't like it and 3 months ago have moved my boy's mattress in daugther's bedroom so they can be together...they will be 8 and 11 next month.... I keep thinking the day will come they will beg for their indepence, but so far, they just love sharing one room...0

My niece and nephew have only chosen to have their own rooms in the last few months and they are 11 and 12.
They had their own rooms a few years back but decided they'd rather share so moved back into one room again.
They fight like crazy but support each other a lot when no-one is looking lol!
If your younger two get on and are happy to share then they will be fine for a good few years yet.0 -
We recently moved our two in together (3 bed house, 2 doubles, 1 closet!), as we needed the single room for storage as about to embark on an extension. They are 3 and 2 and absolutely love sharing. Never had a problem. The larger room was originally our sons, painted blue before we even conceived him, but she doesn't notice. By her bed is a peppa pig poster and a few of her possessions to make the area hers. I don't think you need to bother too much about decorating. As long as they each have their own storage for clothes, books, toys and a few chosen poster/pics, doesn't matter what the wall colour or decor is. Can you remember what colour your room was at that age?
I reckon we'll have problems seperating our two when the extension is complete!!0 -
I cant see a problem with it, especially as they are so young. When they get older you could divide the room and make two small but separate rooms. This worked for my brothers and also my two youngest.0
