I believe Hastings is predicted to be one of the worst affected places in the south by the spending review, 43% of workforce in public centre.0

Wouldn't it be a better idea to move them to somewhere with loads of jobs, like err, Central London

Hastings has long been an anomalous area of high unemployment, drug addiction and crime in the South East. Shipping more benefit-dependent people there would be like making it an official ghetto.0 -
Presumably, over time, those that commute into london from these areas will now be able to live closer to work.
A lot of people live in these areas though precisely because they want to commute to work. 1 hour journey each way max and you can live near the countryside, have better schools for your kids (well before this influx if it happens), have bigger homes with gardens etc, and the area nearby, even in Slough and Luton is really pretty. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? If I had to work in that hell hole I think I would rather have a 2.5 hour commute
oops I promised to keep quiet about the north, we don't wish to be over run by chavs:eek: 'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. It's going to be a mess.
I know Slough due to being a place attractive to immigrants has a problem with not enough school places and issues with funding for children with various special needs.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

But surely the people being moved have a choice. People talk about them like they are objects. Also, as far as I am aware there isn't a huge fence around Hastings or Watford, so if they are not happy living in a b&b they can always go and seek work/move elsewhere? That's why we are in the EU afterall, freedom of movement. Surely if millions of Eastern Europeans can move thousands of miles to look for work, so can those people currently living in million pound houses in Central London courtesy of the taxpayer if they really don't want to live in Hastings or whereever.0

heh, heh, heh - that's funny.
Perhaps they found it too hard to get employment as they were competing for cleaning, retail, bar, security and restaurant work with EU migrants who travelled hundreds of miles to get the positions that they couldn't get at the end of their own street...?!0 -

Many seaside destinations became DSS havens simply because they had tonnes of accommodation but UK seaside holiday resorts became out of fashion. Also, they don't tend to have much employment infrastructure to pick up the slack when the tourism diminished.
For example, Brighton is nicknamed DSS on Sea, plus Margate and Blackpool have suffered similar fates.0
