Perhaps not, but Ernst & Young's Item club are predicting a slowdown over the winter.

The interesting thing will be how this will affect retailers (& subsequent investment). Am I right in thinking that 75% of all consumer sales occur over the christmas period?

I'm not suprised that a slow down is expected, on one hand I suppose it'll allow us time to absorb the cuts being imposed.

I assume the debate will be about how severe the slowdown will be, & whether it'll throw us back into recession or not?

Thoughts...
It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.

  • Retailers have been dropping their prices steadily over months trying to get more X-Mas share early.

Its going to be a bit different from the normal X-Mas rush for presents.
