Hi guys,
I know the answer to this, in theory, but I would like to know if anyone has practical experience. We signed up to VM for internet and telephone. All was good, same service available, good speed etc etc. Unfortunately, they now inform us that we cannot have caller ID/number identification. This is inspite of us having been told that we could get it.
So my question is, how do we stand? We are utterly fed up being without it having taken it for granted with BT. Is there anything we can do considering that we are only a couple of months into our contract?
Thanks for any guidance

Given the amount of time this has taken, it might be tough to leave, but I believe that if you specifically asked and were told it was available and you took up the service on the strength of that, then you should be allowed to leave without penalty. Why has it taken you so long to come to the point of discovering you can't have it? It may hang on that.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Is this a situation where it is best to give the other party notice that time is of the essence to provide the service agreed?0

Well we initially assumed it would be part of the service. They then told us that they would be rolling it out for free at the end of September... so we left it alone...Always overestimating...0

It wont be rolled out for free anytime soon, you may be able to get out of the telephone contract but the tv and internet would remain for the 10 months0

They do not know for sure. The first time I talked to them they told me that, because of where the box was located (which was done to make sure there was a strong signal), we are unable to get caller ID. I am a technical person and this sounds like utter tosh. The second call I made... they just told me it was unavailable. End of story. Not so satisfactory.
To be honest, the reason we went to them was mainly the internet... transferring the phone back to BT sounds like the best option but of course then we pay more because we no longer have the subsidised internet connection (thanks to the phone).
The silly thing is that, 3 years ago, we went to Sky to get the whole package - phone, internet and TV. The internet connection was utterly abyssmal so we went to Virgin. Unfortunately they would not compete on the TV package so we found ourselves back with 2 operators. Now it looks like Virgin cannot compete with the phone from BT so, for a service which actually does a decent job, we need 3 different suppliers - right back where we started. Why can someone not just put together a service that does everything well?!Always overestimating...0
