Tearing my Hair out trying to capture film

Hi all,

I am trying to capture a clip from Oneshow using Free Screen Recorder for our charity website. However, despite my changing the audio settings for the last two hours, I cannot get the audio to playback.

I have the following audio options:

Input: Default input device, Sigma Tel Audio and Tune-bite High Speed Dubbing

Recording Formats:
11.025Khz mono 8bit, mono 16bit, stereo 8bit, stereo 16bit
22.05Khz mono 8bit, mono 16bit, stereo 8bit, stereo 16bit
44.1Khz mono 8bit, mono 16bit, stereo 8bit, stereo 16bit

Compression Formats:
CCITT A-law
CCITT u-law
IMA ADPCM
Microsoft ADPCM
MPEG Layer-3
PCM
Windows media Audio V2

I hear the volume when it is recording, but it doesn't playback.

Please, does anyone have any idea of the combination of settings?

Frustratingly, I have successfully used this application to do exactly this before, but can't get it to work this time! I am using a laptop with onboard speaker.

Comments

  • Just a bit more additional info, I have tried playing the clip in both realplayer and media player.

You might have better luck with the Video Download Helper add-on for Firefox.

I'd be careful about staying on the right side of copyright law, though - make sure you have any agreement with the One Show in writing before uploading the video to your site (or that showing the clip would be regarded as "fair usage").
